Sport Meeting of the Belgian Aeromodelling League 2026
Also known as Annual meeting of the club delegates
Date and place : January 18th 2026, Cultuurcentrum De Factory, Zaventem

This was the 48th such meeting of our organisation. Over the years, the meeting was organised in Leuven, under the leadership of Paul Spaey, and later in Brussels, Cité Modèle. Already then, the club "Les Aiglons" was our host who managed all practical aspects of the facility. Since several years, the Stockmanszaal of the Cultuutcenter De Factorij in Zaventem has been used. Les Aiglons was again the host, with the tasks to prepare the hall with a podium, tables and chairs and decorate the room with an assortment of land flags from the collection accumated by the League while organising FAI championships in Belgium and sending Belgian teams at numerous European and World Championships.

This year, the attendance counted about 100 persons, among them the coordinators, sport directors, laureates of the Belgian Aeromodelling Championships of year 2025, members of Belgian teams who attended FAI championships last year and a lot of Belgian clubs represenatives.
After the unfortunate resignation of Rudy Van Cauwenberg from his position as chairman of the Sport Commission mid last year, the meeting proceedings were opened by Benoît Lejoly, chaiman of the Board. Welcome words and wishes for a proficient New Year. Benoît gave the word to our Belgian delegate at the CIAM Dieter Beckers who commented the activity of the League during last year.

Belgian teams attended several FAI championships in 2025 : F3D Pylon Racing, F3K Hand Launch gliders, F3B Speed and Duration Gliders. The most prominets results of our pilots were presented, with an accent on Bram Lentjes who secured the Bronze Medal at the Rothenburg (GER) Pylon Racing Championship.
Bram Lentjes presents his successful F3D model. His father and caller during the races stands on his right. On this picture, Kristof Verschoren who performed remarkably at the 2025 F3K Hand-Launch Gliders championship in Tarp (GER). On his left, Timothée Levionnais, the new sport director of the revived F9U section. This section already has several competitions on the 2026 calendar. The new F9U coordinator is Ruben Van der Meeren. At the microphone, Dieter Beckers.

The laureates of the 2025 Belgian Championships were called to receive their medals. Here a picture of the winning pilots in F5J duration electro-gliders.

Wim Reynders, one of our top aeromodellers in the radio-controlled scale category chose not to present the model he flew last year, the long-standing beauty Fouga Magister. He rather brought his recent remarquable replica of the four motor Avro Lancaster WW2 bomber. Remarquable for this model is that it has been completely 3D-printed by Wim. Many final touches are still in the works but the quality of the replica is already fascinating. In this picture, Wim is accompanied by Eric Smeets, silver medal and ZZZZ, bronze medal. A round of discussion was initiated by Wim about the opportunity to impose a 34 € cost for granting of a sport licence. Several participants expressed their disapproval about this option. A "wine of honor" concluded the morning part of the meeting. After the sandwiches lunch pause, the sport sections met around the tables to discuss and finalise their 2026 sporting calendar.
